We recently came up with a new custom mix of Cerakote that mimics Black Nitride coating (aka QPQ or Tenifer). This is a mix of 90% Graphite Black (H-146) and 10% Stainless (H-152) with a 12:1 ratio of catalyst to give it a slightly higher gloss. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to see the differences in photos, but it has a subtle metallic flake within the black which gives it an appearance of an actual metal surface treatment. It has a very slight grayish tone to it compared to Graphite Black alone. Below are examples of a Watchtower Defense Apache which is done in Black Nitride from the factory, compared to a Kimber 2K11 Pro and a Live Free Armory Apollo 11 that we refinished in our custom Black Nitride Mimic color.
Be sure to ask for the "Black Nitride Mimic" Cerakote if you want your next project to be refinished in this color.
